A Copycat Top

IMG_8037

This week I worked on a project for my daughter. She asked me to make a copy of one of her favorite tops. I thought I had taken a picture of it, but I returned the top and the opportunity was missed. Instead, I drew a a sketch to show you how simple it was.  A bias cut ruffle is attached over the shoulder and down the front and back side seam,  a few inches past the underarm.  Then, to complete the armhole under the arm, a simple triangular gusset is added. The top of the gusset is finished and then one side is sewn to the side seam of the garment, then the other side is sewn along with the entire side seam. How easy is that, right? It was a simple challenge, but the result was fantastic! If you want to dress up a sleeveless stretch-knit top pattern,  this is an easy way to do it!
